Summary

A patient who underwent allogeneic stem cell transplantation presented with disseminated Magnusiomyces clavatus (formerly Geotrichum clavatum) infection. This rare opportunistic yeast, typically affecting immunocompromised individuals, was identified through diagnostic methods following the patient's presentation. The case highlights the challenges in diagnosing and managing uncommon fungal infections in post-transplant settings, where rapid and accurate identification is crucial for effective treatment. The patient's severe immunosuppression likely contributed to the widespread nature of the infection, emphasizing the need for high clinical suspicion.

Key note: Magnusiomyces clavatus can cause disseminated infections in severely immunocompromised patients, requiring prompt diagnosis and tailored antifungal therapy.
